Not to say the Yankees don’t have confidence in Alex Rodriguez. Just to say that it looks that way.

The New York Yankees have re-signed third baseman Chase Headley, according to Jon Heyman. The deal is apparently for four years and is worth $52 million.

The thirty year old third baseman had spent the entirety of his career with the San Diego Padres until a deadline trade sent him to the Yankees in 2014.

Last season, Headley posted a .243/.328/.372 (102 OPS+) line with 13 home runs and 49 RBI.

The Yankees infield is now mainly set, after replacing Derek Jeter with Didi Gregorious. They will have a steady third baseman not named Alex Rodriguez for the first time in a long time next season. Interestingly enough, according to a source close to Rodriguez, he seems confident he will be playing and play a role on the Yankees, or some team next season.

New York looks mainly set heading into next season after adding Andrew Miller and Gregorious.

Over a 8 year career, Headley has batted .265/.347/.409 (113 OPS+) with 93 home runs and 418 RBI.
