Miami’s sushi venues may need to work on their “Ichi-roll”.
The Miami Marlins have reportedly intensified their pursuit of Ichiro Suzuki. Miami has a starting outfield set with Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich and Marcell Ozuna, but are still in need of a fourth outfielder to provide either a veteran presence or security in case of an injury. The Marlins also may be in pursuit of Nate Schierholtz.
The 41 year old Suzuki has spent the past two and a half seasons in the Bronx with the New York Yankees. His name has been thrown around alongside the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and San Francisco Giants.
Last season, Suzuki hit .284/.324/.340 (89 OPS+) with 1 home run and 22 RBI over 385 plate appearances. Over his illustrious 14-year career, he is a .317/.360/.411 (110 OPS+) with 112 home runs and 717 RBI.
