The Pirates have reportedly won the bidding for infielder Jung-Ho Kang, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The winning bid was $5,002,015.

The Pirates have earned exclusive negotiation rights with Kang for 30 days after the Nexen Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization accepted the bid. If a deal is not reached in those 30 days, the Pirates will have their money returned and Kang will stay with the Heroes.

The Pirates would add to their already incredibly talented infield, as Kang would replace Jordy Mercer at shortstop and play alongside Josh Harrison, Neil Walker and Pedro Alvarez.

The 27 year old batted .356/.459/739 with 40 home runs and 117 RBI over 117 games last season.
