The Miami Marlins have reportedly agreed to a deal with OF/1B Michael Morse for two years, worth about $12 million according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Morse played first base and outfield for the San Francisco Giants this past season excepting the World Series where he became the designated hitter. He posted a .279/.336/.475 line with 16 home runs and 61 RBI.
Unless the Marlins decide to trade Garrett Jones or move an outfielder, Michael Morse will split time at first base with Jones.
Miami has already been incredibly busy this offseason, adding Dee Gordon, Mat Latos, and extending Giancarlo Stanton to a $325 million deal. The Marlins have made a clear statement on their mindset, which seems to aim to contend now.
